Sharing Bernie’s Story: Living with my mother’s Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Sharing Bernie’s Story is a memoir. Sherry Dixon, the author, shares stories about how her mother’s life, including her childhood experience as a prisoner of war on her native island of Guam, affected Sherry’s life. Sherry originally wrote Sharing Bernie’s Story as a sequel to her first book, Natural Destiny. In the writing process, however, she discovered that this book was as much about her own life as her mother’s. Our lives are influenced by our parents and others close to us. Their stories become our stories. Their trauma and healing become ours too. We are all connected. Sharing each other’s stories can help heal others. The stories in Sharing Bernie’s Story will resonate and facilitate healing. This book is for those readers who enjoy reading about people who overcome adversity. Readers, including teens, young adults, seniors, counselors, and mental health professionals, will find value in Sharing Bernie’s Story.
