About Sherry

Dedicated Excellence in Publishing.

Writing Experience – I have been writing since I was a child. I started writing in my diary when I was in the 4th grade and I kept a journal throughout high school. My diary and then my journal was my best friend. I am part of a writing group. We meet every Wednesday evening from 6 – 8pm at the Fork Cafe on Highway 61 in Charleston, South Carolina. Fork is open for lunch only and the owner, Margaret, is part of our writing group. She and her husband allow us to meet in their wonderful restaurant. If you are a writer and you are not a part of a writing group, I strongly recommend you find one. Our group of writers come from all walks of life and write a variety of pieces. We have a great time and learn a lot from each other. Wednesday evenings are special times in my life.

I also meet once a month with another writing group. This group only has writers who want to be published. Mary Johnston, my editor, is the facilitator of this group.

Personal – I am happily married and have been for over 12 years. I am the oldest girl in a family of seven children. I have one older brother, three younger sisters and two younger brothers. My mother, Bernie, was born on the island of Guam. My biological father’s family is Sicilian. My step-father who I refer to as my “real” father played a pivotal role in my life; he is from Maryland.

Professional – During the day, I am an Environment, Safety and Health professional. I have been in this career field for over thirty years. I am also a writer.

Thanks to the ASSE Women in Safety Engineering for recognizing Sherry Dixon, CSP as one of the Top 100 Women Making a Difference in Safety

Education/Certifications – I have a BS in Occupational Education from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale IL and a MA in Human Resources Development from Webster University, St. Louis MO. I am a Distinguished Toastmaster with Toastmasters, International. I am also a Certified Safety Professional with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

Our History

More than just Books.

The original version of 'The White Mountains' was probably just about worth publishing.

What We Do

Making Something Inspirational.

I have a long list of books that have inspired me. I will list some of them as posts on this page.

Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell was the first “thick” book I read. I found that I loved long, thick books because if the book was good, I did not want them to end. This was a classic fiction book.

One of my favorite books is written by Dr. Seuss. The title is Are You My Mother? I learned that there are many traits that make a mother and blood is not necessarily one of those traits.

I read The Word by Irving Wallace when I was a junior in high school. It is about a fraud that proved that Jesus Christ was not the savior. The world reacted in total chaos.

The Holy Bible was the first book that inspired me. Although I was raised as a Catholic, I was exposed along the way to the St. James Version of the Bible. However, my preference now is the New Standard Revised version of the Bible.

The Education of Little Tree by Forrest Carter was another book on my Inspiration List. It is a story about a young boy raised by his Cherokee grandfather and grandmother. His lessons came from Mother Nature’s textbook. Be prepared to laugh, cry and love this book!

The New Earth and The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle introduced me to a totally new spirituality.
